Celestial church members storm court over demolition.

IBADAN — HUNDREDS of members of Celestial Church of Christ, Onala Parish, Ibadan, yesterday, stormed the Oyo State High Court, Ibadan over a suit filed against the Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, over demolition of their church.
The Board of Trustees of the church and Evangelist Kolawole Olakanmi are claimants in the suit.
Before adjourning the case, which was stalled due to the absence of the defence counsel to the state government, Justice Olusegun Olagunju wondered why the counsel did not appear before the court.
Counsel to the claimants, Mr. Ade Fajemiroye, had told the court that the plaintiffs had complied with the directive of the court by filing all the relevant documents and that the information was contained in forms 17 and 18 including issues for determination at the pre-trial conference.
Fajemiroye said Mrs. Sotolu was in court in last adjourned day and she too had complied with the court directive.
It would be recalled that the demolition of the church was done despite the earlier court injunction.
After the demolition of the exercise, the Shepherd and nine other members of the church were later arrested and taken to the Secretariat Police Station.
Speaking with newsmen after the case was adjourned, Olakanmi said: “I showed them the copy of the court injunction, but their leader told me that the order was from the governor.
